Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, DWI Checkpoint Is Coming Soon

The Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey Police Department is collaborating with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office to address the issue of Driving While intoxicated, (DWI).

DWI Checkpoint Is Coming on Friday, July 18, 2025

Please be guided accordingly that the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, along with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office are going to conduct a DWI Checkpoint between the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

They are required by New Jersey law to provide the public with advanced notice prior to engaging in sobriety checkpoints in The Garden State.

Location of DWI Checkpoint

Will be located in the westbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike near Tilton Road, Egg Harbor Township.

Egg Harbor Township 2024 Statistics

In 2024 the Egg Harbor Township Police responded to:

• 12 fatal crashes involving 13 fatalities.
• Half of the fatal crashes were the results of an impaired driver.
• FYI. In 2025, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department has already responded to 2 fatal crashes and 28 DWI-related crashes.

Egg Harbor Township Police Department Message

The goal of this checkpoint is to raise awareness of the dangers of consuming alcohol and/or drugs prior to getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle along with high visibility enforcement. We hope there are no interactions with impaired drivers on the roadway during the checkpoint; however, we will have zero tolerance and you will be arrested if you are found to be impaired and operating a vehicle, said the Egg Harbor Police Department.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department advises that you should expect delays in the affected area (Black Horse Pike and Tilton Road) during the DWI checkpoint event.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department also reminds you that “if you are planning to drink or to use an impairing substance, please get a ride or stay home. It could save your life, or someone else's.”
