Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Man Charged in Child Pornography Case
An Egg Harbor Township man has been charged in connection with a child porn-related investigation.
The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office says 44-year-old Frederick E. Ruddick, Jr., faces a third-degree count of endangering the welfare of a child/possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and is being held in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending initial court proceedings.
Cyber Tip Leads to Investigation
An investigation stemmed from a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cyber-tip that revealed "an unidentified subject, subsequently identified as Frederick E. Ruddick Jr., uploaded various images of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)," according to authorities.
Last Friday, search warrants were executed on Ruddick, Jr.’s person and motor vehicle and he was taken into custody.
Possible Penalties if Convicted
Those charged with third-degree crimes, if convicted, face a sentence of three to five years in state prison.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland thanked the Middle Township Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for their assistance with this investigation.
