On Monday, October 23, 2023, The Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey Police Department responded to a robbery in the area of 6711 Washington Avenue.

They confirmed that an Egg Harbor Township resident had reported being assaulted by several persons.

Before the Egg Harbor Township Police arrived on the scene, property was taken, using force and brandishing a weapon.

The suspects fled the scene by automobile.

Officer Robert Platanella located the involved vehicle in the area of English Creek and West Jersey avenues. A high-risk stop was conducted resulting in the arrest of 30-year-old Ismael Guzman and 31-year-old Alaina Johnson both of Egg Harbor Township. A search of the vehicle located a weapon, stolen property and distribution amounts of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) - according to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.

Guzman and Johnson were each charged with a myriad of criminal offenses including:

  • robbery
  • aggravated assault
  • unlawful possession of a weapon
  • possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
  • conspiracy to commit robbery
  • distribution of CDS
  • possession of CDS
  • possession of CDS paraphernalia

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department has confirmed that the primary police officers for this case are Officer Christopher Elbaum and Officer Nathan Lahr. Detective Harte of the Egg Harbor Township Criminal Investigation Bureau has been assigned as the lead investigator.
