Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Governing Body Member Resigns
Openings like this on the local governing body don’t happen often in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. It is a coveted position.
William “Will” Pauls Has Resigned His Seat
Effective today, May 18, 2026, Will Pauls has resigned his seat on the Egg Harbor Township Committee.
There is no mystery here. Will Pauls is a great guy, who did a very good job. He resigned his position today because he is moving from Egg Harbor Township.
How The opening Will Be Filled
This is a Republican seat, because Will Pauls is a Republican. The local United Egg Harbor Township Republican Party will nominate three people to the Egg Harbor Township Committee and they are charged with selecting a replacement for Will Pauls.
Had Doris Dilley Played Her Political Cards Differently …
Dilley would have been the front-runner to takeover the seat vacated today by Pauls.
Instead, Dilley is running against two popular Egg Harbor Township Committee Members (Mayor Laura Pfrommer and Paul Hodson, in a contested June 2, 2026 Republican Primary Election.
Last year, Dilley challenged fellow Republican incumbent Paul Rosenberg in the Republican Primary.
Rosenberg defeated Dilley by about 300 votes. Rosenberg went in to lose the General Election to Pete Castellano.
Pfrommer has served on the Township Committee for the past 14 years.
Hodson is a former, Mayor, and current longest serving Committeeman, having served for the past 20 years.
Deputy Mayor Ray Ellis
Ellis is the 3rd Township Committee Member, who will decide, who will be appointed to the Township Committee in the near future.
Ellis has been elected twice to serve on the Township Committee
No Disrespect Intended … However, Pete Castellano Has Absolutely No Say
The 3 Republicans have complete control of who they want to serve with … once the local Republican Club makes its 3 recommendations to the Township Committee.
The Township Committee must pick one of the 3 recommendations that they receive … or, they may decide to choose nominee … however, that’s highly unlikely.
Last year, Castellano defeated incumbent Township Committeeman Paul Rosenberg … to become the first Democrat in more than 30 years to win a seat on the Township Committee.
Castellano previously served for 20 years on the Egg Harbor Township Board of Education.
