Fatal Cash on Route 18 in NJ

Authorities say at around 6:00, officers with the Colts Neck Police Department responded to the northbound side of Route 18 around mile marker 17 for a motorcycle-motor vehicle crash.

A preliminary investigation found that a 20-year-old man from Eatontown was traveling northbound when his 2017 Honda CBR motorcycle hit the back of a 2011 Ford F-350 utility truck being driven by a 27-year-old man.

The crash caused the motorcycle driver to be thrown from the bike, which slid to an uncontrolled stop and caught fire. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:27 PM.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene.
