On Friday afternoon, Flyers interim head coach Scott Gordon dropped a stadium sized shocker on the media after practice. Brian Elliott was getting the start against the Penguins on Saturday.

At the time, it was being called strictly a hockey decision. Elliott had played in the last two games and Carter Hart had struggled. Despite the success from the 20-year-old, perhaps he just needed a game off the ice.

As it turns out, there's more to the decision than that. The Flyers announced on Saturday morning that Hart will be out at least 10 days with a lower-body injury.

Hart is 13-8-1 with a 2.79 GAA and .917 save percentage in 22 starts this season.

Elliott will be making his first start since Nov. 15. His last two appearances, both in relief of Hart, were his first action since suffering the injury. Elliott is 6-7-0 on the season with a 2.51 GAA and .916 save percentage.

Newly-acquired goalie Cam Talbot will backup Elliott for Saturday's game.

The Flyers take the ice for the Stadium Series game at 8 p.m. on Saturday. You can listen to the game on WPG Talk Radio 104.1FM, 1450AM, and on the WPG Talk Radio app.
