For Those in New Jersey Who Are Ending Friendships Over Politics
It sure does seem that whenever a Republican wins The United States Presidency - especially when it’s Donald Trump - one half of the country absolutely loses it.
Remember when George W. Bush defeated Al Gore in 2000? For the first time that I can ever recall, there were talks of professional counseling and therapy for those who wanted Gore to win.
Then, when Barack Obama became President, all was well, again. No therapy sessions were needed for those who wanted John McCain or Mitt Romney to win. All was well, again … because a Democrat had won.
However, in 2016, when Donald Trump became President, therapy sessions were back in fashion. Misogyny and all kinds of other terrible things were at the root cause behind Hillary Clinton’s loss to Trump.
It couldn’t simply be that the American people had elected the candidate of their choice and rejected the unlikeable Hillary Clinton.
But, not to worry … soon, everything was right again when Joe Biden defeated Trump in a first-ever, all vote-by-mail election in 2020.
Again, no therapy sessions were needed. Everything was back as it is supposed to be.
Now, it’s back to the future.
Trump defeated both Biden and Kamala Harris in 2024. And, you bet, therapy sessions are once being called for all over again.
Harvard University, Columbia University and other colleges have cancelled classes. All because Trump has won The Presidency.
These Institutions of higher learning have determined that students can’t bring themselves to go to class. Why? Because Trump won the election in favor of Kamala Harris.
Why does this only happen when a Republican candidate wins The Presidency?
No school classes were cancelled when Obama won twice or when Biden won once.
Sadly, this is only the tip of the iceberg. It’s gotten even worse. Far worse.
In the age of Trump, marriages and friendships have ended, and, still others are in the process of collapsing.
In all of our lifetime, this was never the case. No one used to care how you voted … and, people would never let it end personal relationships.
You have probably read the recent social media posts that call for you to disown your family members and friends who voted for Trump.
What an outrageous thing to do … end your marriage or personal relationships because Trump won the election?
More than 75 million Americans just voted for Trump. That’s more than 1/2 of the entire electorate.
The majority voted for Trump. Now, the minority wants to unfriend you, or, disown you if you’re a family member who voted for Trump.
This makes no sense whatsoever.
NOTE: This is an open letter to my fellow New Jerseyans, however, this sad scenario is playing out all over The United States of America.
