Kim Batiste, former Phillies third baseman and member of the popular 1993 Phillies N.L. pennant-winning team, died today. He was 52.

Batiste also played 12 games for the Atlantic City Surf in 2013.

A third-round pick of the Phillies in 1987, he is most known for his game-winning RBI in the 10th inning of Game 1 against the Atlanta Braves. The hit was even more satisfying for Batiste because it was his error in the ninth inning that allowed the Braves to tie the game and force extra innings.

Batiste played four season with the Phillies, hitting .241 with seven home runs, 53 RBIs in 197 games.

After his Phillies career, Batiste went on to play for the San Francisco Giants.
