Atlantic City Police sources have confirmed to me that current Deputy Chief James Sarkos will be named the “Officer in Charge” ... with essentially the acting authority of Chief of Police. It will be official in hours.

He could possibly be named interim Chief.

Sarkos will succeed the retiring Chief Henry White.

Sarkos is a great and highly respected lawman.

Just last year he traveled to Spain. This was at a time when deep cuts and and other challenges had shattered departmental morale.

Even in the midst of turmoil caused by the state of Jersey regressive guts, still, the Atlantic City Police Department’s methods were considered to be of global caliber.

Sarkos is a trail-blazer. He traveled to Spain to give a presentation about risk-based policing.

All competent observers agree that this method has materially helped Atlantic City lower the crime rate.
