Large Sinkhole Forces Closure of Route 9 in Absecon

A large sinkhole developed on Route 9 in Absecon Monday evening and police are cautioning it could take several hours to repair.

The sinkhole is in the northbound lane of Route 9 (New Road) in the area of Meadowview Ave., near Holy Spirit High School, between California and Ohio Avenues, with traffic being detoured at California Avenue while the repairs are being made.

The sinkhole repairs are still ongoing as of 5AM Tuesday.
