Latest Atlantic City, NJ Fatal Shooting: Man Shot in the Throat

I have just received confirmation about the latest shooting homicide in Atlantic City, New Jersey, which has taken place on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

This is the 5th homicide in 2024.

The first 4 homicides (2 shootings & 2 stabbings) in Atlantic City took place in the first 7 days of the New Year.

The violence began just hours into the New Year, with two (2) stabbing homicides occurring on January 1, 2024 … along with shooting homicides taking place on January 5, 2024 and January 7, 2024 … and, today’s shooting homicide on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

I have also confirmed that members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Major Crimes Unit are on the scene of tonight’s latest Atlantic City homicide.

The fatal shooting took place at 119 North Virginia Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey.

I have confirmed that a man has been shot and killed, after being shot in the throat.

The victim, Christian Hunter, age 32 was pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.

The Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office under Will Reynolds’ direction has been very committed to providing Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Police Department with a significant amount of support.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is the lead law enforcement agency for all homicides and major crimes that occur in Atlantic City … and, all of Atlantic County.

The violence in Atlantic City and Mayor Marty Small’s focus on hiring ex-offenders is becoming a real problem from both a perception and reality standpoint.

The Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is assisting the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office with this investigation.
