Authorities in Atlantic City say two people, including a teenager, were arrested after a man was shot Saturday night.

According to the Atlantic City Police Department, their officers responded to the 800 block of Indiana Avenue at around 8:45 in reference to a ShotSpotter alert.

As officers were responding, an SUV was observed fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.

Officers Anthony Nastasi and Tyman Gordy stopped the vehicle at Ohio and Atlantic Avenues. They determined the driver, 32, of Galloway, NJ, had sustained a gunshot wound and the vehicle showed evidence of gunfire.

Those two officers carried the victim into AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for treatment of injuries that were considered non-life-threatening.

Officers located a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. A passenger, Alicia Gillard, was taken into custody. Detectives later arrested a 17-year old male as part of the investigation into the weapon.

36-year-old Alicia Gilliard of Atlantic City was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice. She was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The 17-year-old from Mays Landing was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice and remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.

Police say this remains an active investigation being conducted by the ACPD Violent Crimes Unit.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
