A Manahawkin family of five was hospitalized after being hit by a car driving through Vermont last weekend.

Vermont State Police say 20-year-old Jenna Latterreur of Essex, VT, was driving a 2013 BMW on Vermont Route 22-A in West Haven on Sunday, July 14, around 10AM when she left her lane of travel and struck a Toyota sienna, partially head on, driven by 38-year-old Greg Smith of Manahawkin.

Smith was extracted from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. The front passenger, 41-year-old Holly Smith, was hospitalized for serious injuries. 9-year-old Garron, 6-year-old Reid, and 11-year-old Abby were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Jenna Latterreur was transported to Medical Center in New York for non-life threatening injuries.

At this time police don't believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

Latterreur was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division on November 4, 2019, after being charged criminally for Gross Negligent Operation and Reckless Endangerment.
