Mayor & Wife: Atlantic City NAACP Award Winners To No Shows
What a difference one year can make.
This time last year, Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor Marty Small and his school’s superintendent wife (La’Quetta Small) were basking in the glow of adulation from the Atlantic City NAACP.
Marty and La’Quetta Small were the recipients of major awards at last year’s Atlantic City NAACP Branch annual Freedom Fund Gala Dinner, that was held on Saturday April 29, 2023 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Other honorees last year included:
- Business - Kenneth J. Calemmo Jr.
- Entrepreneur - Burnell Brown
- Health - Christian Ragland
- Special Recognition - Laura Terrero
One year later, this past Saturday, April 27, 2024, Marty and La’Quetta Small did not even attend the Atlantic City NAACP Branch annual Freedom Fund Gala Dinner.
Their absence, in the midst of the serious child abuse criminal charges that both Marty and La’Quetta Small currently face was noted by many that were in attendance.
It has also spread around Atlantic City this past weekend like wildfire.
Many reasons for The Smalls’ absence are circulating.
One of the most prevalent is that Marty and La’Quetta stayed away after previously convincing the Atlantic City NAACP and numerous clergy to rally for them … just prior to them being criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
At this event, Shabazz aggressively and recklessly attacked the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office … whereby Shabazz played the race card to try and explain away the serious criminal charges that Marty and La’Quetta Small currently face.
Marty Small has either been an Atlantic City Councilman, Council President and now Mayor since 2003.
Marty Small was a member of the Atlantic City Board of Education prior to being elected to City Council.
La’Quetta Small has been the Atlantic City Superintendent of Public Schools for more than three years of a 5-year term.
MARTY SMALL is criminally charged with:
- 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
- 3rd degree aggravated assault
- 3rd degree terroristic threats
- disorderly persons simple assault.
LA'QUETTA SMALL is criminally charged with:
- 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
- 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.
CONSTANCE DAYS-CHAPMAN (Atlantic City High School Principal) is criminally charged with:
- second-degree Official Misconduct.
- third-degree Hindering Apprehension of
- Another.
- fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.
- disorderly persons Failure to Report Child Abuse.
Days-Chapman has previously been suspended.
It remains beyond belief that La’Quetta Small has not as yet been suspended. No one can find another example anywhere … Whereby a superintendent is criminally charged with serious child abuse charges … yet, is allowed to remain on active duty status.
