Prosecutor: Mays Landing, NJ Juvenile Charged With Murdering Mother

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that they have charged a Mays Landing, New Jersey (male) juvenile with murdering his own Mother.

The Circumstances Surrounding This Murder

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 17-year-old boy with the death of his mother, Julissa Serrano, 49 years old, also from Mays Landing, New Jersey.

According To The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office

On November 22, 2025, at approximately 6:05 pm, the Hamilton Township Police Department received a 911 call in reference a juvenile male in possession of a knife. The Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a residence in the Meadowbrook Condos in Mays Landing, NJ. Officers arrived and located Julissa Serrano with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to the AtlantiCare Medical Center in Atlantic City where she succumbed from her injuries. The cause and manner death are pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Criminal Charges Filed

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with:

• murder.
• possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
• unlawful possession of a weapon.

The boy has been legally processed and is currently being held at Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center, at least until his first court appearance.
