Millions to be Spent Widening, Paving Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway
It's bumpy. It's congested. It's always backed-up. And it's about to get a facelift.
For anyone that has driven on Jimmie Leeds Road between the Garden State Parkway and Stockton University, it can be quite an adventure -- that is, as long as you aren't crawling along at 9 MPH. But, briefly, when you come close to driving at the posted speed limit, you often have to slow down for turning vehicles, swerve to avoid countless potholes, and some pretty big puddles when it's raining.
All of that is about to change.
According to The Press of Atlantic City, county officials have awarded a $3.7 million contract to widen Jimmie Leeds Road.
The project will create a turn lane in the center of the road, which will eliminate having to slow down for turning vehicles, each travel lane will be paved, and the shoulders of the road will be widened.
The road work is expected to be completed by next spring.
