Congress Hall is my favorite hotel in Cape May, New Jersey.

Congress Hall was the summer White House for President Benjamin Harrison. It’s where the term “Summer White House” was coined.

It also provided the inspiration for John Philip Sousa's "Congress Hall March.”

Congress Hall is a full-service hotel and convention center.

Prinicipal Managing Partner, Curtis Bashaw led a full property renovation approximately 25 years ago, when it reopened during the summer, 2002.

“Murder Mystery” Weekend At Congress Hall

When: Halloween weekend, Friday, October 31, 2025  through Sunday, November 2, 2022.

What:

Set within the storied halls of America's oldest seaside resort, the event brings guests into a fully interactive theatrical production titled "Mystery at the Haunted Hall Wedding." Presented in partnership with Murder Café, the weekend invites participants to become part of the story-solving riddles, unraveling clues, and uncovering the truth behind a chilling wedding gone horribly wrong. As festivities unfold, guests will encounter an eccentric cast of characters, and it's up to attendees to crack the case over the course of four acts spread across three days. A highlight of the weekend is the Scavenger Hunt Extravaganza, a thrilling search through Congress Hall using a treasure map filled with cryptic clues. Costumes are highly encouraged for this weekend of whodunit entertainment.
