First, my opposition to the new Atlantic City Hall courtyard is not meant to show any disrespect whatsoever to the late, former New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver.

The new Atlantic City Hall courtyard is now called The Sheila Oliver Plaza in Atlantic City. It was formerly known as simply the Atlantic City Hall courtyard,

Oliver was a pleasant, kind and respectful elected public official.

I’m genuinely opposed to the spending of $ 5 million of taxpayer dollars on a completely unnecessary project like this.

The project was specifically funded by community block grant development (CDBG) and other taxpayer dollars.

Marty Small Conceived This Bad Idea

If Small decided to have a courtyard like this constructed, he could have and should have named it after the late, great Mayor James L. Usry.

Usry was a wonderful educator and a uniter during his time as Mayor of Atlantic City. Usry was everything that Small is not.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small decided to spend this large sum of taxpayer money, despite failing at his job in so many ways.

The track record of Marty Small as Mayor of Atlantic City has not been a good one. His priorities are consistently bad and they never seem to focus on providing the important basic services that residents desire.

Such as the proper paving of Atlantic City roads. How can Marty Small spend $ 5 million on a totally unneeded passion project, while many roads in Atlantic City are like the surface of the moon?

About The New Atlantic City Hall Courtyard, Small Said:

This space embodies the spirit of Sheila Oliver, who laid the foundation for many of the positive things you're seeing happening in the great city of Atlantic City, and is the reason so many of our fine programs at City Hall exist. She was a champion for Atlantic City and deserves to be honored in the greatest way possible. This new courtyard not only shows we appreciate her efforts, but that the Small administration cares about our employees and residents in a deep way, said Small in public comments.

$ 5 million taxpayer dollars should never, ever be spent like this.

Weatherby Construction Company

The Weatherby Corporation was the construction company. They are one of the finest in Atlantic City history.

They did a great job on this multi-million dollar project.

Arthur W. Ponzio Company & SOCH Architects

Both companies did a great job in their areas of responsibilities as the engineering and design firms for the project.

The new courtyard was very well designed and engineered.
