New Date Confirmed for College Football Showdown Featuring Former Eagles
Two of the most dynamic athletes to play for the Philadelphia Eagles over the last 25 years were teammates for five seasons.
From 2009 to 2013, Wide Receiver Desean Jackson and Quarterback Michael Vick connected for 24 Touchdowns in the 51 games they played on the Eagles together. While those Philadelphia teams never made deep playoff runs, many Philly Sports Fans loved those two players and still own their jerseys over a decade later.
Now twelve years after Jackson and Vick played in their last Eagles game, the two men will be back at Lincoln Financial Field on opposing sidelines in a very unique game that is symbolic of the changing landscape of football.

One of the popular trends in College Football over the last few years is former NFL Players being hired as Head Coaches at Universities whose Football Programs have been struggling:
-Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders was hired at Jackson State, spent three seasons at JSU before taking his current role at the University of Colorado
-Heisman Trophy Winner and All-Pro NFL Running Back Eddie George was Tennessee State Head Coach (2021-24) before taking that same job at Bowling Green this year
-Super Bowl Champion Quarterback Trent Dilfer is the UAB Head Coach (2023-Present)
-Super Bowl Champion Cornerback Terrell Buckley was hired as Mississippi Valley State Head Coach in January 2025
The two former Eagles Star Players have been hired by two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who have struggling College Football Programs.
Norfolk State, whose Football team has only one winning season since 2012, hired Michael Vick to be their new Head Coach. Vick played his High School Football less than an hour drive from the Norfolk State campus at Warwick High School.
The Delaware State Football team has not had a winning season since 2012. The university hired DeSean Jackson as their new Head Coach to make his debut on the sidelines this upcoming season to revitalize the Football program.
The DSU Hornets were previously scheduled to host the NSU Spartans on Saturday, November 1st. But now the game has been moved to Lincoln Financial Field and will be played on Thursday, October 30th.
Former Eagles Wide Receiver, now Delaware State Head Football Coach, Desean Jackson released the following statement in conjunction with the Philadelphia Eagles press release on Tuesday:
"Mark your calendar and grab your tickets right now for October 30th, as (Delaware State) take on Michael Vick and Norfolk State at Lincoln Financial (Field)...Come on Hornet Nation, you don't want to miss this, lets pack The Linc, Lets Go!"
"DJax" was a guest on the Up and Adams Show on Fan Duel TV on May 28th, and he talked about the upcoming matchup with Michael Vick. When Host Kay Adams asked Jackson about what game she needs to circle up the Delaware State Football Schedule, the DSU Hornets Head Coach "spilled the beans" when he said both schools were working on getting the game moved to Lincoln Financial Field.
Tickets are on sale now for the Delaware State versus Norfolk State game, individual tickets priced between $35-$73 at the time of the writing of this article.
One of the greatest Wide Receivers in Eagles history, Desean Jackson should be in the team's Wall of Fame along with these players who have excelled in Philadelphia in recent years:
