New Jersey Poll: Most Popular Republican Candidate for Governor
One week ago, a poll that was conducted by Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill showed Jack Ciattarelli with a 2 to 1 lead in the Republican Primary for Governor of New Jersey.
A new poll conducted by M3 Strategies (401 likely Republican voters) also shows Ciattarelli as the prohibitive front runner with a 57 percent favorable rating among Republican voters … with only a 15 percent unfavorable rating.
Radio talk show host Bill Spadea came in second in the survey with a 35 percent approval rating and an 18 percent unfavorable rating.
Spadea was also a distant 2nd in the Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill last week.
New Jersey State Senator Jon Bramnick continues to poll poorly in his bid for Governor.
Despite Bramnick’s long career in the New Jersey Legislature, he only has an 18 percent approval rating in the survey.
Bramnick’s unfavorable rating was not listed in the poll that was released by realclearpolling.com
Bramnick is the unapologetic “Chris Christie” candidate in the field. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone in America that President Donald Trump dislikes more than Chris Christie.
Bramnick is rabidly anti-Trump, which is the absolute worst position that a Republican candidate can take at this time.
It provides Bramnick absolutely no path to be successful in a New Jersey Republican Primary election.
Former New Jersey State Senator Ed Durr had an approval rating of just 15 percent. Durr’s unfavorable rating was also not listed.
The poll also yielded how very important an endorsement from United States President Donald Trump would be in the Republican Primary for Governor of New Jersey.
It remains unknown if President Trump will be making an endorsement in the New Jersey Republican Gubernatorial race.
About President Trump, the survey says:
“42% of respondents said they would be ‘much more likely’ to vote for a candidate with Trump's support, while 27% said they would be ‘somewhat more likely.’ Only 26% said it ‘makes no difference,’ and 4% said it would ‘make them less likely to vote for the candidate,’ according to the survey.
Spadea is feverishly trying to portray himself as the most “Trumpian” Republican in the race, however, Spadea’s past negative comments such as this make that a very hard sell:
In a January 14, 2021 opinion editorial about Trump, titled “Three Reasons Trump’s Presidency Failed,” Spadea wrote:
"He's beaten. He's tired. He would have been better off resigning the office ... Pray that we eventually elect a president with the strength, courage and commitment to the Constitution and the American way of life to ignore the polls, the optics and the haters and be tough enough to fight"
This was written when President Trump was at his absolute lowest point, just 6 days before President Trump was to leave office.
Spadea must have thought that Trump was gone forever and kicked him hard when he was down.
We knew that Trump would be back and stronger than ever. Spadea obviously didn’t.
