New Jersey’s Next Governor: How Do You Pronounce His Name?

I had a lot fun with this on-air this morning.

It suddenly dawned on me that I have been pronouncing Jack Ciattarelli’s last name … “CHIT”-a-Relli” for countless years.

However, I listen closely when other people speak and I was pretty sure that I have heard Jack Ciattarelli pronounce his last name … “CHET-a-Relli.”

Which is it, CHIT or CHET?

Today is the day that we decided to settle this matter once and for all.

The only way to properly and definitively solve this decades old mystery is to speak directly to Ciattarelli and settle the case once and for all.

I strongly believe that Ciattarelli is going to be the next Governor of the state of New Jersey. As such, it is incumbent upon all of us to pronounce his last name correctly.

I wrote Ciattarelli the following:

Jack, l just had the most fun doing an entire segment on the pronunciation of your last name with the premise being that you're going to be the next governor and that it's incumbent all of us to be able to pronounce your last name correctly.

I told my audience that I have opened up an official Hurley in the Morning investigation, (tongue in cheek).

Help me. I have been saying … "Chit" a relli ... however, it seems as though you pronounce your last name "Chet" a relli.
