Words Matter — This Is Exactly What New Jersey Gubernatorial Candidate Mikie Sherrill Said About Pork Roll
Who eats Pork Roll? I think that's gross! I've had this fight multiple times. Nobody wants Pork Roll, said Sherrill.
This was such an unwise and politically incorrect thing for Sherrill to say and she may pay a political and electoral price for saying it.
So Many New Jerseyans, myself included really like Pork Roll.
Is It Pork Roll or Taylor Ham?
It depends on where you live in New Jersey.
It appears that those in North Jersey call it by its original name: Taylor Ham … while those in Central and Southern New Jersey call it Pork Roll.
The Legal Name Is:
Pork Roll.
In case you didn’t know, that’s because the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 prevented Founder John Taylor from legally calling his product “Taylor Ham.”
Jack Ciattarelli Promptly Responded To Mikie Sherrill, Saying:
Hey Mikie. Tell me you're not from Jersey without telling me you're not from Jersey. You know what, don't worry about it. You remind us of it every day in ways big and small, said Ciattarelli.
Sometimes It’s The Little Things
Wouldn’t be something if it wasn’t the big things, that detailed Mikie Sherrill, such as:
An alleged United States Naval Academy cheating scandal.
$ 7 million in stock market gains while serving in The United States House of Representatives.
Alleged campaign contributions from member of The Chinese Communist Party.
In the end, what if trashing Pork Roll is what sticks to Mikie Sherrill?
