After Slip-Ups, Atlantic County, NJ Sheriff Candidate’s Good Call

Sean Riggin has been running an unsteady campaign for Atlantic County Sheriff. He has criticized Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue for working too hard and for publishing the names of those served with warrants.

This Is Riggin’s Best Campaign Decision To Date

Riggin has announced that Bridget Pierce, a highly respected Atlantic City Deputy Chief of Police (retired) has joined his campaign team.

Further, Riggin has confirmed that if he wins the November 3, 2026 General Election, Pierce will join the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department at the senior executive level.

This is Riggin’s best decision to date, as Pierce is polished, professional and talented.

I like it when a perspective candidate informs the public and actually names the people who would be serving. It gives you a window into the caliber of people the candidate would put in place if he is successful on election day.

I'm proud to announce that retired Deputy Chief Bridget Pierce has agreed to join the Riggin for Sheriff campaign team, and when we win in November, our Atlantic County Sheriff's Office executive team.
DC Pierce has deep roots in Atlantic County law enforcement and Atlantic City. She is a no-nonsense leader with decades of uniformed and investigative experience, along with a strong record in administration, professional standards, and accountability. Bridget's perspective and abilities will be an asset to this team in a number of ways. I'm humbled that someone of her caliber has agreed to take this on with me, and I'm excited about what she will bring to the Sheriff's Office. This is the kind of leadership team Atlantic County deserves, said Riggin.

Note: Riggin is current serving as the civilian director of public safety for the City of Atlantic City.

Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue

O’Donoghue is running for a second, three-year term. Incredibly, O’Donoghue has not taken a single day off from work in more than 2 1/2 years.

O’Donoghue inherited a department that was in rough shape. He immediately faced a backlog of more than 7,000 outstanding warrants that had not been served.

O’Donoghue has also restored the core police functions that the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department has previously abandon for inexplicable reasons.

O’Donoghue has also implemented an effective K-9 Unit within the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department.
