NJ State Police COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate Litigation Is Tossed

The New Jersey State PBA has been fighting hard to get Governor Phil Murphy’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate overturned.

They have failed in their latest attempt as the New Jersey Superior Court has dismissed their challenge earlier today.

New Jersey State PBA Statement on Court Vaccine Mandate Decision

The New Jersey Superior Court this morning
dismissed the State PBA lawsuit challenging Governor Murphy's mandate that correctional police officers receive the Covid vaccine or face termination.

We are obviously extremely disappointed with
the Court's decision to uphold the vaccine
mandate for correctional police officers. This is
not only a loss for these officers to make their
own medical decisions, but it is going to have
damaging public safety consequences should
layoffs result from it.

Testing and masking were not an unreasonable approach to limit the spread of a virus that seems to be retreating. In fact, in New Jersey and all around the world
Covid restrictions are being lifted.

It makes no sense for New Jersey to double down on one set of employees while removing restrictions for countless others.

Many heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic have now found themselves in the unenviable position of having to make a very tough decision. Either take the vaccine, or, potentially lose your job.

These heroes include:

Police Officers
Firefighters
Emergency Services
Doctors
Nurses

These classifications have faced termination efforts that are currently taking place all over the country.

I have relentlessly supported the COVID-19 vaccine and the importance of consulting with your Doctor, to determine what decision is best in your individual circumstance.

However, I also support free will and civil liberties and respect those who have made a decision not to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

This has been a difficult and hard-to-win challenge for those who do not want to introduce the COVID-19 vaccine into their bodies.

The recent United States Supreme Court decision protects those in the private sector, however, SCOTUS has upheld the vaccine mandate for public employees and the health care industry.
