Officials shut down the area around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning to allow for replenishment of the dunes. Police announced the closure would only last for two days.

Three people have died since 2009 near that area due to sand collapsing.

The area is marked off by an orange fence.

The beach is set to reopen Friday morning.
