Northfield, N.J. — A Northfield man is likely facing several years behind bars on gun and narcotics charges.

On Monday, 57-year-old Jerome Ellis pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree possession with the intent to distribute CDS and two counts of second-degree possession of a handgun without a permit.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on January 22nd, 2025, state troopers and law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at 311 Maple Ave. in Northfield as part of a narcotics investigation.

During a search of the home, detectives said they located two defaced firearms in the basement, one imitation firearm in the living room, and approximately $5,692.00 scattered throughout the residence.

Ellis was located outside at the time of the execution of the search warrant. A search of his person revealed approximately 45 white wax folds in his jacket pocket. A search of a vehicle driven by Ellis revealed crack cocaine located in the driver's side compartment.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 22nd. His plea deal calls for five years in state prison, subject to a 3 1/2-year period of parole ineligibility. He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending sentencing.

Assistant Prosecutor Deirdre Laws represents the State in this matter.
