I have had the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time at the Ocean City High School over the past year, attending Ocean City High School Drama Guild performances.

Previous to this, I also officiated boys and girls basketball games at Ocean City High School for 25 years.

I have always been so impressed with Ocean City as a great family resort, with wonderful activities and a great overall community spirit.

As a family, we attended the 52nd Annual Academic Awards Program, held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Ocean City High School.

The program was so well done and provided much well deserved recognition for hundreds of students, who have worked so hard to earn a minimum 3.3 Grade Point Average.

The stage was filled with seniors, who have achieved four consecutive years (15 straight quarters) of great academic performance.

Each senior received a plaque and they were honored with a narrative read by their principal, Dr. Wendy O’Neal.

The student achievements and announcements about what colleges and Universities they will be attending next year was so impressive.

This was followed by Ocean City High School students, who are 3 year, 2 year and first year academic award winners.

It was inspiring in so many ways.

The Ocean City High School auditorium was jam packed, illustrative of how much support the students have at home.

Walking the hallways, while making our way to the special event, the walls are adorned with motivating Items such as this (see below):

This past Wednesday was also Election Day for the Ocean City High School Student Council.

Prior to the Academic Awards evening program, there was a late afternoon awards program, whereby students received recognition for their talents … such as Noah Hurley Baker, who earned “Best Freshman” for visual art excellence (see below).

Directly across from the Ocean City High School, in the expansive parking area, there is an important symbol, which discourages parents from hosting teenage drinking parties.

This is a great reminder, that helps to serve notice and provides encouragement to make good decisions.

Congratulations to Ocean City High School.
