Ocean County Man Arrested, Facing a List of Drug-related Charges
An Ocean County man is facing a list of drug-related charges after being arrested late last week following an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Authorities say 41-year-old Jason Close of Lacey Township was charged with Possession of More than Five Ounces of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of More than Five Ounces of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer says detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office worked with the Lacey Township, Brick Township, and Toms River Police Departments, along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation into the distribution of drugs across the county. Their work identified a home in Forked River as being used by Close to store and distribute quantities of Methamphetamine.
Billhimer's office says last Thursday, a search of Close's house resulted in about 150 grams of Methamphetamine being seized along with a quantity of marijuana, packaging material indicative of distribution purposes, and approximately $780 in cash.
Close was processed at Toms River Township Police Headquarters and then taken to the Ocean County Jail where he is currently lodged pending a detention hearing.
