On The Boardwalk In Atlantic City … Central Pier Is On Fire
Details are sketchy at this hour (7:00 p.m.), however, we can report that Atlantic City, New Jersey’s Central Pier is presently on fire.
The Atlantic City Fire Department and Atlantic City Police Department are on hand at Tennessee Avenue and The Boardwalk.
Here are some photos from the scene:
i have spoken with a well placed Atlantic City Fire Department source who has confirmed that a “recall” situation is in effect … meaning that everyone who is available, returns back to work to help.
Central Pier first opened in 1884 at Tennessee Avenue and The Boardwalk and was originally named Applegate’s Pier.
It later became Young & McShea's Pier and then Central Pier.
It was known as the first successful amusement pier in Atlantic City
We will continue to update this as more information becomes available.
ADDENDUM: An Atlantic City official has exclusively confirmed to us that one person perished in the fire.
