[OPINION] Bad News for Democrats in New Jersey
In 2024, we wrote about the fact that New Jersey is no longer an electorally “Blue” state.
With what Jack Ciattarelli did in 2021, by earning 48.5 percent of the popular vote statewide … followed by what President Donald Trump just did on November 5, 2024 … New Jersey is now a “Swing, Battleground” state.
This is bad news statewide for Democrats. The electoral news for Democrats in Southern New Jersey is even worse.
Democrats long held a voter registration advantage over Republicans for more than 40 years. This Democrat advantage has been erased by Republicans over the past four years.
United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ-2, has been dominating the 2nd District congressional district.
Van Drew, along with New Jersey Senators Vince Polistina and Michael Testa have displayed impressive electoral coattails.
So did Ciattarelli in 2021.
"Over the last four years New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District has gone from having nearly 20,000 more Democrats than Republicans to having nearly 20,000 more Republicans than Democrats," said Van Drew's Campaign Manager & Director of Political Affairs Ron Filan. "Since Election Day 2020, more than 38,000 voters have followed Congressman Van Drew's lead in joining the Republican Party while on Election Day 2024 Democrats actually had fewer registered voters in the district than they did four years ago. That's a nearly 7% swing in Republicans' favor which was reflected in last month's historic election results,” said Filan.
Massive President Trump campaign rally’s in Wildwood, New Jersey in both 2020 and 2024 also demonstrated a political shift towards Republicans in The Garden State.
Ciatterelli is once again running for Governor of New Jersey this year in 2025. He is currently an overwhelming favorite to win both the Republican nomination and the General Election to become the next Governor.
Here are some photos from the two President Trump campaign rally’s. The 2024 Wildwood summer beach rally drew a reported more than 100,000 people.
It has been recorded as the largest political rally in the history of New Jersey.
