Overturned dump truck sends HazMat crews out to Route 30 in Berlin, NJ
An overturned dump truck at a busy highway interchange in Camden County delayed traffic for several hours early Tuesday morning.
The Berlin Police Department says the accident happened around 5:15 in the area of Routes 30 and 73.
According to authorities, a fully-loaded dump truck was headed westbound on the White Horse Pike and took the ramp to head southbound on Route 73 when it overturned and landed on its side.
As a result of the crash, the driver became entrapped inside of the vehicle. He was eventually removed and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
During the crash, a hazardous material condition was created and officials with the Camden County Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Team responded.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash is still under investigation by the Berlin Police Department and any charges are pending.
