An Atlantic City man was killed after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in the city.

Atlantic City Police say at 3:15 Sunday morning, officers responded to Michigan and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers arrived to find 29-year-old Thomas Kovsh of Atlantic City suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, an investigation

...revealed Kovsh was walking in the eastbound lane of traffic on Atlantic Avenue pushing a bicycle. A vehicle traveling eastbound swerved to avoid Kovsh. Behind that vehicle, a Toyota being driven by Murray Kanter, 24, of Ventnor, NJ, struck Kovsh in the roadway. Kanter immediately stopped.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Accident Investigations Section at (609) 347-5744.
