Man Beat Victim With Bat Before Pennsauken Shooting, Cops Say
Pennsauken, N.J. — A Philadelphia man is facing a charge of attempted murder after authorities say he beat a man with a baseball bat before shooting him in Pennsauken last week.
38-year-old Kalief Armstrong is facing first-degree attempted murder, third-degree aggravated assault, and multiple weapons-related charges.
Victim Arrived at Cooper Hospital
Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay said at 11:47 on the night of July 2nd, the Pennsauken Police Department was notified that a gunshot victim, identified as a 27-year-old man, arrived at Cooper University Hospital in a private vehicle. The victim was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
During an investigation, detectives learned the shooting occurred at approximately 11:16 PM on the 8900 block of Haddonfield Road in Pennsauken.

Detectives Link Suspect to Shooting
MacAulay said Armstrong was ultimately determined to be the individual responsible for the shooting. Detectives also found that Armstrong had assaulted the victim with a baseball bat during a fight that led to the gunfire.
Armstrong was taken into custody in Pennsauken this past Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force - Camden Division and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
