The expression "cutting off one's nose to spite one's face" certainly fits here. It’s irrational and self-destructive, in pursuit of revenge against President Donald Trump.

Their actions of canceling performances at The Trump — Kennedy Center for The Arts will only serve to harm themselves instead of President Trump.
