Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina says 20-year-old Lamar Johnson was indicted in first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree aggravated assault charges.

According to Coffina's office, officers from the Willingboro Township Police Department were called to the Willingboro Town Center on Route 130 on the evening of October 11, 2021. There, cops found 19-year-old Nasir Phillips of Willingboro with gunshot wounds to his hand and abdomen. He was taken to the trauma center at Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment.

An investigation revealed that "Johnson traveled to the shopping center after he became aware that Phillips was at that location. Johnson pursued Phillips as he exited a sandwich shop, opening fire with a handgun and striking him twice after he entered his vehicle."

Johnson was arrested last November in Pennsylvania. He has been held in the Burlington County Jail since.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
