These Delaware Valley television icons made our days as children a whole lot of fun.
On January 25, 2025, The Legendary Sally Starr would have been 102 years old.
Sally Star, famously known as “Our Gal Sal,” was the source of wholesome “crushes” for countless little boys throughout the Delaware Valley.
Sally Starr was born on January 25, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri and she died on January 27, 2013 in Berlin, New Jersey … just two days after her 90th Birthday.
So many entertainers seem to live long lives, I think because they did what they love to do and this passion appears to add years to their life.
Look at the many vocalists, conductors, musicians and actors who can say the same thing.
In the photo above, which we also include directly below here … rests Don Hurley getting a big smooch from Sally Star.
This was on the day that Don retired as an Atlantic City Police Officer.
Pictured to Don’s left is Chief Halftown:
Sally Starr’s real name was Alleen Mae Beller. She had a great career with her "Cowgirl" persona, she was so relatable to her many fans, which I am one.
Sally Starr's fans remained fiercely loyal to her for all the days of her life.
The same can be said for all of the Delaware Valley television legends that are outlived in this article.
I actually worked with Chief Halftown's son, Peter Halftown at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in the 1980's … and, later in life became friends with one of my childhood idols, Gene London.
Here are some great photos of: Gene London, Sally Starr, Chief Halftown, Pixanne, The Beatles (Paul McCartney), Tony Orlando, The Amazing Kreskin and more.
