Sally Starr’s 100th Birthday was January 25, 2023. She was beloved for so many years and yet there has been almost no recognition of this icon on this milestone birth year.

For every Baby Boomer in the Delaware Valley … everyone loved “Our Gal Sal.”

Sally Starr was born on January 25, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri and she died on January 27, 2013 in Berlin, New Jersey.

Sally Starr had a career in the movies:

  • The Outlaws Is Coming (1965).
  • The in Crowd (1988).
  • The Wages of Spin (2008).

However, she was best known in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas for “The Sally Starr” show.

Sally Starr was part of a magical era in television in the Delaware Valley, along with other memorable greats of this time, such as Gene London, Chief Halftown, Dr. Shock, Officer Joe Bolton, Wee Willie Weber, Pixanne, Captain Noah, Happy The Clown, Sl Albert’s Stage 6, Jerry “Geator” Blavat Discophonic Scene, Ed Hurst “Summer Time at The Steel Pier and others.

Just think about how lucky we are to live in the Delaware Valley, growing up with all of these talented stars of their day… And the impact that they had on so many peoples lives.

I actually worked with Chief Halftown’s son, Peter Halftown at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in the 1980’s and got to actually become friends with one of my childhood idols, Gene London.

Sally Starr was born 100 years ago (1923), her real birth name was Alleen Mae Beller.

She had a great career with her “Cowgirl” persona, she was so relatable to her many fans, which I am one.

Sally Starr’s fans remained fiercely loyal to her for all the days of her life.

The exact same can be said for Gene London and the other stars that we mentioned above.

Following Sally Starr’s career in the movies and television, she remained very close to her fans by making countless live public appearances.
