Just because several months -- or in this case, several years -- pass by, that doesn't mean authorities have given up on a criminal case.

Case (no pun intended) in point, detectives in Camden County have made an arrest in a 2017 bank robbery in Cherry Hill.

According to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Cherry Hill Police Chief William Monaghan, 39-year-old Phillip Thomas of Elkton, MD, has been charged with one count of second-degree Robbery.

Mayer's office says on the morning of February 26, 2017, officers responded to TD Bank on Route 70 East for the report of a robbery. Bank employees told police a man passed a note to a teller demanding cash.

Authorities say, "Surveillance footage captured the man leaving with an undisclosed amount of money and driving away in a silver minivan. Footage of the incident was released to the public, but detectives said no one came forward to identify the man. In 2021, new information was received, which led them to identify Thomas as the person responsible."

Thomas was charged in Maryland on Sunday. He is currently being held at the Cecil County Detention Center where he’s awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
