Pizza No More: Popular Southern NJ Deli Closing After 42 Years
It's the end of the line for yet another popular deli and pizza restaurant in the Garden State.
It's been a rough go for businesses of all shapes and sizes in New Jersey over the past couple of years. Big stores and small have been fighting an uphill battle between COVID-19 and not being able to meet proper staffing levels.
As such, our travels today take us to Gibbsboro in Camden County where a local restaurant that has been serving-up all kinds of delicious food and treats for decades is calling it quits.
Masso's Deli and Pizzeria on Lakeview Drive, right next to Cricket Fields where countless kids play sports, is shutting down.
Per a post on their Facebook page,
We would like to thank all of our loyal customers for 40+ great years.
We have officially decided to close our doors effective Sunday, August 21st (Pizzeria) and Sunday, August 28th (Ice Cream and Custard).
We appreciate the support from all of you and the friendships made along the way.
Comments on their social media platforms indicate they will be greatly missed.
My childhood and teenage hangout in the 1970’s and ‘80’s. Great memories there with hot summer days playing at the tennis courts or Cricket Field and heading to Masso’s for snacks.
I wish you all the best. Yall were my go-to when I was in high school EHS class of '82, and you were still my go-to this year when I came back to Gibby to take care of my elderly mom.
So sad to see the loss of another family-owned neighborhood deli. This could not have been an easy decision. Thank you for all that you did for the community. You will be sorely missed.
Masso's Deli and Pizzeria is located at 11 Lakeview Dr. N. in Gibbsboro.
