Police: Gun Seized, 2 Arrested After Drug Deal in Atlantic City, NJ
Two men are facing charges after an alleged drug deal in Atlantic City.
Authorities in the World's Play Ground say at around noon Tuesday, ACPD detectives observed a parked vehicle with two occupants.
The driver, Najee Roberts, engaged in a drug transaction with a man who approached the vehicle on foot. After the transaction, the man walked off and the detectives initiated a motor vehicle stop. The detectives began to speak with Roberts and the passenger, Samad Dudley.
According to a press release, Dudley initially provided a false name to detectives.
Both men were ultimately arrested.
Police say Dudley was found in possession of a loaded handgun in his waistband. He also had an active warrant for his arrest. Roberts had 32 grams of marijuana and items used in the distribution of narcotics.
23-year-old Samad Dudley of Sicklerville was charged with the following:
- Unlawful possession of a weapon
- Possession of hollow-point ammunition
- Possession of a defaced firearm
- Possession of a large-capacity magazine
- Hindering apprehension.
Dudley was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
33-year-old Najee Roberts of Ewing was charged with these crimes:
- Possession of CDS with intent to distribute
- Possession of CDS paraphernalia
- Loitering to distribute CDS
Roberts was released on a summons with a future court date.
Police did not disclose where the alleged drug deal took place in a press release.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
