Polistina On Ciattarelli Short List For New Jersey Lt. Governor?

This is the kind of story that no one wants to talk about in advance of the Gubernatorial Nominee selecting his running mate.

However, I have confirmed that New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina has made his way on to the Jack Ciattarelli short list for Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey.

Polistina Pedigree

Polistina has served multiple terms in the New Jersey General Assembly.

Polistina is the current New Jersey State Senator from District 2.

Polistina is a polished speaker, who possesses a solid command of New Jersey state issues.

Polistina is also an effective retail campaigner, with movie star looks and he is a prodigious fundraiser. Polistina is straight from “central casting.”

Additionally, Polistina has never left private sector and owns and manages one of the most successful engineering firms in Southern New Jersey history … Polistina and Associates.

Would Polistina Be Willing To Leave The New Jersey Senate?

Rarely does someone turn down an offer such as this for Vice President or Lieutenant Governor. However, it appears that Polistina is not in a position to accept an offer at this time should it come.

Polistina Has Provided Us With His First Public Comment

It is a tremendous honor for the Ciattarelli campaign to even think of me for such an important position on the team. I will do whatever I can to help Jack become the next Governor of New Jersey but unfortunately with 3 kids in college at different places in the country and a flourishing business that I have built I can't commit to having the necessary time to do the job. I look forward to working with Jack and his administration to continue our efforts improving Atlantic City and diversifying the Atlantic County economy, said Polistina.

Gender Considerations?

Some immediately believe that Democrat Nominee Mikie Sherrill “has” to pick a man for her running mate … and, that conversely, Ciattarelli “has” to pick a woman.

Not so fast. This logic is not without merit, but, it is not necessarily true. Although, I do believe that Sherrill will pick a male running mate.

Other Ciattarelli Short List Contenders

New Jersey Senator Holly Schepisi, from Bergen County.

Highly qualified and provides “balance” if Ciattarelli is so inclined.

Senator Schepisi is a proven vote-getter, who is located in an important swing County.

Jim Gannon, Morris County Sheriff. He is a very popular vote-getter.

Ciattarelli needs a big turnout in Morris County. A Gannon selection also makes a lot of sense.

Tony Perry, Mayor of Middletown. An excellent family man, who can raise money and is an effective candidate at delivering a campaign message.

Perry is from Governor Murphy’s hometown and he is strong with suburban frontline issues such as: overdevelopment, school funding, carjackings and more.

Antwan McClellan, New Jersey Assemblyman from District 1.

McClellan would help balance the ticket with a Southern-most New Jersey candidate.

The least likely pick of our short list, however, McClellan is in the mix, which is a high honor.

NOTE: This is not being proffered as the definitive Ciattarelli Lieutenant Governor short list. But, it’s a respectable starter list.
