NJ man gets 26 years in prison for role in 4 robberies, 2 shootings

A North Jersey man is headed to prison for his role in four robberies and two shootings in Jersey City in 2021.

This past December, 33-year-old Rodney Williams of Jersey City pleaded guilty to multiple gun and robbery-related charges. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 26 years behind bars.

Siobhan Chandler, a co-defendant in this case, was sentenced last year to 12 years in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.

Night of violence in Jersey City

According to federal authorities, on the evening of November 14th, 2021, Williams and Chandler committed multiple armed robberies and two shootings in Jersey City.

The criminal activity began when Williams, acting alone, robbed a store while he pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money.

A short time later, Williams, now with Chandler, robbed a gas station, where Williams pointed his gun at two attendants and demanded money. When the attendants did not comply, Williams shot one of the attendants in the chest. The pair then fled.

The duo later entered another store where Williams, again, pointed his gun at a clerk and demanded money, which he got, and then they both fled.

Williams and Chandler then entered a nearby restaurant, and Williams, once again, pointed his gun at the cashier and demanded money. When the cashier did not comply, Williams shot the cashier in the chest. The cashier then handed money to Williams, after which Williams and Chandler fled.

Once released from prison, potentially in the year 2051, Williams will be under five years of supervised release.
