Galloway Police say, "Germania Fire Department, Port Republic Fire Department and Pomona Fire Department were the first companies on scene, and were able to quickly and successfully contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to the wooded area surrounding the property."

An official with the Absecon Fire Department told The Press of Atlantic City, "the fire stemmed from a 500-gallon fuel tank at the junkyard."

Multiple fire departments from Galloway Township, Egg Harbor Township, Somers Point, Mays Landing, and the Atlantic City Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. Assisting those crews were the Stockton Police Department, NJ State Police, county and township offices of emergency management, and other fire departments from as far away as West Tuckerton.

The Port Republic Volunteer Fire Department says crews will remain at the scene throughout the night to make sure there are no flare-ups.

The fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported.
