A retired police K9 who served the citizens of Vineland for several years has passed away.

The Vineland Police Department took to Facebook Friday morning to share the news.

We are saddened to announce the passing of retired Police K9 Yoshi who faithfully served the Vineland Police Department for seven years from 2012 until his retirement in 2019.

During his career with his K9 handler, (Ret.) Sgt. Bontcue, he was instrumental in the location of evidence, location of subjects who fled law enforcement, and other police duties to include community events.

Since his retirement he enjoyed time around the pool and spending time with family.

Officials ended their post with, "K9 Yoshi, you will be missed by many."
