Ocean County Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges
An Ocean County man has been arrested and is now facing child porn charges following a six-month-long investigation.
40-year-old Richard Knight of New Egypt has been charged with distribution of, and possession of, child pornography. He was arrested while at his job in Browns Mills on Wednesday.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, an investigation began last December after members of the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force detected a Google Meets user was uploading images of child pornography to the internet. Authorities were able to determine a home in New Egypt was the source of the pictures.
On Wednesday, detectives with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office's High Tech Crime Unit, United States Homeland Security Investigations, and Plumsted Township Police executed a search warrant at Knight’s home. Cops say they seized two cell phones.
Billhimer says their investigation continues and more charges may be forthcoming.
Knight is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
