Called it “A tsunami on top of an earthquake,” if casino gambling is approved for North Jersey … on top of 3 casinos in New York City.
The Experts Projection Is Catastrophic
Again, at the recently completed East Coast Gaming Congress … the forecast was that as many as 6 of Atlantic City’s 9 casinos could be forced to close if the above “Perfect Storm” scenario occurs.
Even If You Don’t Believe …
… That 6 Atlantic City Casinos will close — there is no doubt that at least 2 or more will close. That would cost many thousands of good jobs and place the Atlantic City area economy in a recession or depression.
Even With The State of New Jersey’s Leading Industry — The Casino Industry …
… Atlantic County is the second poorest County in the state of New Jersey.
Imagine the nightmare of multiple Atlantic City casinos closing and the almost certain contraction that would occur.
Senator Vince Polistina Is Unconditional In His Opposition To North Jersey Casinos
This is most important, because the last time that the threat of North Jersey Casinos faced Atlantic City … then District 2 State Senator Jim Whelan took the public position that North Jersey Casinos are inevitable and that we should cut the best deal possible. It was absolute surrender.
Thank Goodness That No One In Atlantic County listened To Whelan
It was abundantly clear that Whelan had sold out to the North Jersey political potentates.
South Jersey Went On …
To stage one of the greatest campaign victories in history. The ballot referendum to legalize gambling in North Jersey was overwhelmingly defeated at the polls.
No Word As Yet Where New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill Stands On The Question Of North Jersey Casino Gambling
So, until we know for sure … we must treat it as though Governor Sherrill is for the expansion of casino gambling in North Jersey … which I sincerely hope is not the case.
South Jersey Should Also Oppose …
… A new convention center in North Jersey. The Atlantic City convention business would be negatively impacted by this if it should occur.
