The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office has announced the arrest of 63-year-old Steven T. Seeburg on charges of possession of child pornography, a crime of the third degree, and distribution of child pornography, a crime of the second degree.

Police arrested Seeburg on August 20 at his home in the Clermont section of Dennis Township.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said the arrest was the culmination of an investigation that began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The organization had information that an unknown person had downloaded and shared images of child sexual abuse material.

An investigation by authorities allegedly identified Seeburg as the suspect.

On August 20, the Cape May County SWAT Team, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office High-Tech Crimes Unit & Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI-Atlantic City). executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence.

The prosecutor said that as a result of the search, several devices including cell phones, and laptops containing images of child pornography were confiscated.

Seeburg was booked and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional facility pending a hearing.

According to the prosecutor,

An individual charged with a second-degree crime is subject to a term of imprisonment of five (5) to ten (10) years in New Jersey State Prison. An individual charged with a third-degree crime is subject to a term of imprisonment of three (3) to five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison.
