Longport Police are reporting more stolen vehicles over the past week.

In one case, thieves stole a BMW SUV and left a Honda behind that had been stolen in Mays Landing.

Car Thieves Strike Again in Longport

Longport Police say two vehicles were stolen over the past few days, and one is still missing.

On Wednesday, Aug 2, a black BMW X7 was stolen in the 100 block of North 36th Street.

In a Facebook release, Longport Police say the thieves left a silver Honda on the street a little before midnight and stole the BMW.

Police later tracked the Honda to a theft in Mays landing.

After the BMW was entered into a police database of stolen cars, it was seen by police being driven on Ventnor Avenue in Ventnor.

Ventnor and Margate Police responded, but the thieves drove off at a high rate of speed before officers could stop it.

The BMW was later found abandoned with front-end damage on the 1500 block of Baltic Avenue in Atlantic City.

Longport Police See Stolen Vehicle Being Driven in Wrong Direction

On Monday, Aug 5, Longport Police saw a black Hyundai Sonata traveling in the wrong direction on North 36th Street near Winchester Avenue.

The vehicle turned into a driveway, made a U-turn, and headed toward Ventor Avenue.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away. Margate Ventnor and Atlantic City Police were notified but the vehicle remains missing.

Longport Police say the thief was a Black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Longport Police Repeat Advise on Vehicle Security

As vehicle thefts continue, Longport Police "remind residents once again about the importance of securing their vehicles and removing the keys to prevent car thefts.

It is crucial to keep valuables out of sight and to always lock doors and windows to deter potential thieves."
