A crowd of about 100 people gathered on the street in front of Gov. Murphy's home to protest his mandate requiring students grades K-12 in public and private schools to wear masks when the new school year starts.
Murphy announced Monday the current mask mandate remains in effect for public, private, and parochial elementary and secondary schools including charter and renaissance schools as vaccines are not yet available for children under the age of 12.
“This year it is especially important that we all appreciate and commemorate 9/11, the lives lost and the heroism displayed as New Yorkers are once again called upon to face a common enemy,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.
