Herman Brightman pretended to be a nurse while searching for women online, before the physical abuse of at least four victims in New Jersey and New York.

A New Jersey man who raped a woman in the newly opened Conrac Parking Garage at Newark Airport has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Herman Brightman, who also goes by Nazir Griffiths or Nazir Luckett, is accused of physically abusing several women he dated — including strangling one and threatening to gut a different victim.

10 firefighters were hurt, including 2 seriously, while battling a West New York fire. In Somerset County, a body was recovered after a fire at a residence in Franklin Township.

The 20-year-old driver, Ricky Rivera, was then shot and wounded when a second officer fired at the fleeing vehicle, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

Luz Hernandez, 33, of Jersey City, was reported missing on Monday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Separately, a man was charged with murder in a 24-year-old woman's stabbing death in West New York.

Joseph Suarez was first arrested after police found more than 1,000 files of child sex abuse material in his Hudson County residence. Now, he faces additional charges stemming from sex crimes against a young girl.
